Re-Engineering Complex Geometry for High-Yield G3
Preparing an established block for a high-performing SunGold (G3) conversion demands significantly higher structural load capacity than traditional varieties. For EHC at Hua Kiwi Orchard, the property presented several intricate engineering hurdles:
Outdated Structures & Wasted Space: The existing layout featured aging end assemblies that couldn’t carry heavy G3 crop loads, alongside obsolete "fishtail" wiring that left prime growing space unproductive.
Live-Load Extensions: The project required extending an active block that was already bearing full canopy weight, demanding specialized bracing so tension was never lost while tying into new assemblies.
Awkward Block Angles: OCD was tasked with bringing a previously unusable parcel of land into production, requiring two blocks sitting at conflicting angles to join seamlessly without guide wires slipping down the main boundary cable.
Safety Hazards: Clearing overgrown shelter trees left steep drop-offs and exposed working zones that needed immediate safety barriers for orchard machinery.
